Father’s day update: kerry’s return home

This Father’s Day carries extra meaning for those of us who know and love Kerry.

On Friday, June 6th, after nearly three months away, Kerry was released from Kessler Rehabilitation Center and returned home to his family. Watching the video of his arrival, I was filled with awe and pride. It was a quiet yet deeply powerful moment—one that reminded me how strength often shows up in steady, quiet perseverance.

Since his stroke occurred, Kerry’s journey has been one of resilience and grace. Every time I see him, I notice small improvements—movements a little stronger, posture more improved, and energy a little brighter. These gains, though gradual, are adding up in meaningful ways. His progress is a reminder that healing isn’t always linear, but with patience and resolve, it moves forward.

Kerry will continue outpatient therapy at Kessler during the week, where he’ll receive physical, occupational, and speech therapy. These sessions are crucial steps in his recovery, and knowing Kerry, he’ll approach them with the same determination that’s gotten him this far.

But today, on Father’s Day, I want to celebrate more than just his road to recovery. Kerry is not only my favorite friend—he’s a devoted father to Jasper and Onyx. Over the years, I’ve seen the way he cherishes his family, and how deeply he values the joy and responsibility of being a parent. Even now, amid everything, that love remains unchanged—enduring and powerful.

The challenges Kerry has faced in recent months have been immense. Many wouldn’t have made it through what he’s endured. But Kerry is here—still fighting, still healing, still loving—and that, to me, is a testament to his extraordinary strength. Perhaps it’s even a glimpse of the triumph still ahead.
